Haldir Plot Bunny Following Me Around

Okay, I'm jumping into the sandbox and letting loose a bunny that has been following me around for some time now, and I know I'll never use it. It's both movie-related and I think somewhat AU:
As with the movie, Haldir goes to Helm's Deep. Doesn't die, ends up staying in Rohan for some time because of his recovery and how weak he is. When he gets word that Galadriel is going West and Celeborn to East Lorien, he decides to stay in Rohan, works as a fletcher/bowyer type thing. Meets a woman whose husband was killed during the war and befriends her. She's pregnant, but loses the baby. She's really wanting to have a child, and since the war, men have been in short supply in Rohan. She asks him if he would consider...we'll say 'assisting' her. He says no at first, but eventually comes around on the idea. You get to figure out how that happens without them bonding. Everything seems okay, except when she delivers the child - well, elves don't have lots of kids because it's tougher than it seems, and she dies having the child. The townfolk blame poor Haldir, toss him in the local jail, and he overhears the talk about their plans to kill both him and the baby. He manages to escape with the baby and heads to --? I was thinking Rivendell, where he runs into Celeborn. Past that, hadn't gotten much further. Somehow was thinking they'd sail West. *shrugs* It's too angsty for me to tackle, but I'd love to read it if someone does it.
