The King of the Noldor watched as his friend paced. Elrond had been nervous about Lord Glorfindel's impending arrival all week, and now that his arrival had come, nerves weren't limited to Elrond. Cirdan's report of the Elf-Lord's re-appearing had been most unexpected, and Gil-Gallad was most honored that such a distinguished lord would dwell in Lindon. "What if he doesn't find us satisfactory, Gil-Gallad?" Elrond worried. Gil-Gallad walked over and placed a soft kiss on Elrond's forehead.

"I don't know about me, but he couldn't possibly deem you anything but perfect," Gil-Gallad reassured his young herald. Elrond gave a weak smile. His king never failed to make him feel more confident in himself. Just then, there was a soft knock on the door. "Enter," Gil-Gallad called. A dark-haired elf walked in.

"What is it, Erestor?" Elrond inquired with anticipation.

"Lord Glorfindel has arrived," Erestor replied.

"What is he like?" Elrond asked.

"I wouldn't know. Unlike the two of you, I don't take that kind of interest in other males," there was disgust in Erestor's tone, and he walked out of the room. The remaining pair in the room heard Erestor whisper, "The King will see you now."

A moment later, the most beautiful elf either of them had ever seen walked in. His hair was a shimmering gold color and fell to his waist. His face was perfectly sculpted and covered with smooth, perfectly tanned skin. Despite his conservatively styled robes, they could see that his body was lean and lithe, but the most stunning feature about him was his emerald-green eyes, a typically Vanyarian trait, as was his blonde hair. Elrond realized that his jaw had dropped and quickly closed his mouth. Glorfindel had begun to shift nervously under the gazes of the High King and his Herald. "I didn't get ink all over the side of my face again did I?" Glorfindel asked hesitantly.

"No, we are just very honored to have a figure of legend standing before us," Elrond stated coolly. "I will show you to your chambers. I am the King's herald, by the way." Glorfindel followed Elrond to the end of the hallway where there were large, spacious rooms overlooking a beautiful garden. "Report to the High King's chambers at 7:30, at which time, we will explain the various rules and what your duties will be." When Glorfindel nodded, Elrond shut the door and headed off to Gil-Gallad's chambers.
