Name: Forest
Previous Middle Earth writings: Heehee! Oh thousands! Only a few are actually finished though. The last one was called "A Rose Not Yet Withered" and the other recent ones are mainly poetry.
Other previous writings: Matrix fics, Harry Potter fics, a couple of original stories: One a "whodunnit" story ("The White Panther") and the other about life in 20th century France. Based around the life of a young girl called Maria, and her transformation from farm- girl innocent to working the back-streets and bars of Paris.
Future projects: The next HL story! Oh, and a ton of assignments.
Favorite Middle Earth characters: Right. *takes a deep breath* Haldir, Rumil, Orophin, Elladan, Elrohir, Erestor, Glorfindel, Lindir, Celeborn, Merry, Pippin and Gollum/ Smeagol.
Motivation for doing this project: At first, I thought it would be just a quick short story, but I had no idea of the amount of time and effort it would entail. It was still immense fun though, and I have not got a single regret.
True feelings about Valentine's day: Aiya! Well, V-Day has never been much of a to-do day on my calendar. I don't hate it as such, I just don't enjoy it like some other people I know do. In my whole life I have never received a Valentine's Day gift or anything. (Apart from once when I was about five, and I got a small card from someone. Can't remember who!)
What does bug me is when the "popular" crowd come past you with armfuls of flowers, candy, balloons etc. Nothing wrong with that except they go out of their way to draw attention to themselves by giggling loudly as they walk past and "accidentally" bumping into you.
Guess, I've never been much of a V-Day person. I'm not sore or bitter or anything, it's just not my sort of thing. Still, give me a bunch of elves on V-Day, and that could change quite quickly!
You're stranded on a desert island and can only take one thing and three elves with you. What is it, who are they, and why?: Oh Manwe! Okay......I would probably take a helicopter. That way, I could fly away! Bwhahahahaha! Uhm.... but I guess you were thinking more along the lines of something smaller! *thinks hard* Okay, I would take a saucepan. That way, I could build a campfire and boil the sea water. Then I could skim off the salt from the surface and have clean water. Also you can cook things in a saucepan.
Elves.......I would take Glorfindel, Erestor and Lindir. (No suprises there!) Glorfindel because he can hunt for food and scout around to find wood to build a raft. Lindir because he has a beautiful singing voice and can tell poetry and tales etc. And Erestor because he is such good company. In so many ways!
Favorite descriptive word to use when talking about elves: Beautiful
Favorite famous elf quote: "Shall I describe it to you? Or would you like me to find you a box?" Legolas: "The Two Towers".
Favorite famous 19th century philosopher quote: "There are two ways of spreading light: to be the candle or the mirror that reflects it." — Edith Wharton, 19th-century American author
If you were making a pie to share with the elves, what kind would it be?: It would be a chocolate torte. *mmmmmm!* Dark chocolate base with white and milk chocolate, marbled mousse ontop. *drools*
Favorite Beatles song: No question. "Yesterday".
Anything else we should know?: I tend to be quite outgoing towards the people that I know really well. However, if I am around new people, or people I don't know much about, I will often be quite quiet and shy. However, I am generally hyper! Oh, and I love elves! But you already knew that, right?!
Character Name: Forest
Physical description: Thick, curly brown hair that falls to the middle of her back, sometimes clipped back "Elrond style". Green eyes, fair skin, slim face and slim, (well- proportioned) figure. Average height standing in around 5'7". For the story, her age is around 21. Tends to wear a lot of silver, black and blue.
Homeland: Born in a village south of Rivendell, Forest lived there with her parents until she was 16. Coming from a middle-class background, her parents had urged her to travel to one of the larger cities, like Edoras or Minas Tirith, to have a decent life and to find good work. Although she did not want to leave her family, she eventually was persuaded, her parents telling her that Gondor could give her, what they could not. So, she travelled for many weeks, until she reached the great city of Minas Tirith.
For over four years, she lived there, working as a tutor for the young children of the city. Within the great libraries, she poured over books of the languages and history of Middle-Earth. The development of languages had always fascinated her, especially the languages of the elves.
When Freida (her last pupil) grew old enough to find work for herself, Forest confided in her closest friend: Hilda. She said that she felt she really wanted to learn, or at least study the languages of the elves, and asked Hilda if she knew a way of doing that. Hilda said that there were no more resources that would allow her to do so, at least not in Minas Tirith. Finally, after much thought, Hilda suggested that, if she was serious in her linguistic endevours, Forest would do best learning from the elves themselves.
Knowing of the distrustful nature of the elves towards other races, Forest was a lot more than a little apprehensive about going to be among them for a while. She did not know if she would even be accepted into their city. Hilda knew of this too and so urgently suggested that Rivendell would be a far better option than either Mirkwood or Lothlorien.
So, after much correspondence, Lord Elrond agreed to let Forest into Rivendell to study, on one condition. She was to study under the hand of Erestor. Years after coming to Rivendell, and under the strict hand of Erestor's teaching capabilites, Forest had eventually mastered the languages of Quenya and Sindarin. However, Quenya had come suprisingly easier than Sindarin to her. Since then, she has dwelt in Rivendell, and now dares to even call it home.
Occupation or purpose in Middle Earth: Scribe and historian in the Elven city of Imladris (Rivendell). Secret way the character wishes they could have sought their revenge against Elrond: Drugged his wine, stripped him down to his underwear and set him on a raft in the middle of the lake. Anchored down of course!
Anything else we should know?: Forest is extremely inquisitive and loves to pull pranks on poor, unsuspecting souls! She can be light- hearted and she can be sorrowful depending on the situation. Glorfindel and Erestor are her closest friends, but she is especially close to Erestor, a bond which led to a romance blossoming. The shy, minstrel called Lindir she also regards as a valuble and close friend.
